Transfrontier Africa Research

Transfrontier Africa Research company information, Employees & Contact Information

Founded in 2006, Transfrontier Africa fulfils its role as an environmental conservation organisation by operating according to three main values: Wildlife and Ecosystem Conservation, Landscape Security, and Community Empowerment and Engagement in Conservation. To ensure the implementation of these values and the effectiveness of the resulting action plans, Transfrontier Africa made research one of its core functions. To meet Transfrontier Africa’s requirements in terms of ecological monitoring, research development, security, and community empowerment, the Research Department has identified five main research axes – Biodiversity and Trophic Interactions, Community Development, Human-Wildlife Conflicts, Wildlife Criminology and Ecological Monitoring – under which the on-going, past, and future research projects fall. We believe that covering all these aspects is essential to ensure the design and implementation of comprehensive, inclusive, and durable conservation and management strategies. Our main objectives are to: • Support reserve management authorities in making informed decisions based on scientific evidence. • Guide conservation strategies and assess their effectiveness as part of an adaptive management approach. • Contribute to scientific progress by conducting pioneering research, answering critical questions, and using cutting-edge technologies. To achieve these objectives, we: • Support the establishment of new nature reserves to enhance the conservation impact of endemic species. • Bridge the gap between management, communities, and research in our landscape through citizen science and engagement. • Lead or partner pioneering research projects, from local to international scale, to ensure our contribution to global conservation efforts. • Provide a platform for future professionals and local talent to engage in conservation actions and research projects, facilitating their access to conservation careers and employment opportunities.
