In our section we develop theories and mathematical models of transport systems to evaluate potential policies and infrastructure investments. We work from a systems perspective across all components of demand, supply and interactions, which enables us to perform holistic and comprehensive assessments and design of complex transport systems. We have made fundamental methodological contributions to the modelling of route choice, traffic assignment, network design (public transport, bicycle, and road-pricing systems), and the calibration of large-scale models. We carry out advanced applied research in the areas of road pricing, public transport systems, and active mobility (cycling), where we leverage innovative data sources to gain behavioural insights and apply state-of-the-art methodologies to real-world settings.
