The Institute for War and Environmental Trauma is an organization dedicated to providing education, consultation, and research in the fields of war-related and environmental trauma. Our mission is to address the consequences of conflicts in war-torn and post-war regions, as well as in the aftermath of natural disasters, through an approach that integrates clinical work and community support. We are committed to advancing knowledge through our training programs, curating scholarly publications, and organizing events that foster awareness and stimulate dialogue on the issues arising from societal and ecological turmoil.
Our educational initiatives, focused on training leading professionals, are carried out by elite, world-renowned experts in trauma, geopolitical conflicts, and ecological and environmental issues.
We are situated in the historic Tuštanj Castle, a living testament to centuries of Slovenian history. At the Castle the Institute host international symposia, seminars, and public events. The serene surroundings of the Moravska Valley provide a calm and inspiring backdrop for the Institute’s work in trauma care, as well as its library.
