Introducing TriboSpectrometry and the world's first TriboSpectometer. Tribis Engineering, Inc. was founded to address career long frustrations with tribological data for plane bearing materials. The pervasive dearth of performance data (i.e., PV wear and friction data) was a constant roadblock to making high confidence bearing material and design decisions. The typical available published data is limited to maximum speed, maximum pressure and maximum PV. Rarely, however, did this information have any direct relationship to the target application’s pressure and velocity demands. As a result, choosing the optimal bearing material was essentially a shot in the dark. Experience with the high cost and long timeframes associated with commissioning tests at specific PV’s was far from satisfying. Tribis is based on the vision for readily available, cost effective wide ranging PV wear and friction data. Armed with wide ranging data, engineers can differentiate between bearing materials and make more robust decisions without having to undertake costly and time consuming one-off tests.
