TriGen Energy BV creates oil field decarbonisation projects that generate dispatchable clean power from low quality fossil fuels, using pressurized oxy-fuel combustion technology.
TriGen's vision is to help decarbonise the Oil & Gas Industry to the extent that by 2035 Oil Companies will monetise their (remaining) oil and gas reserves through the sale of dispatchable clean power.
TriGen Energy is not a true ‘start up’ as it uses NASA ‘rocket’ technology developed and refined over a 20 year period, with an investment of $150 million. The application of this oxy-fuel solution to Oil- and Gas and Power industries, however, is novel.
TriGen’s founders have developed know-how and experience in the technical and commercial design of TriGen projects. They have been granted rights to the technology that can handle low quality fuels with up to to 80% CO2.
The technology is ready for deployment and yields profitable projects at oil prices of over 45 $/bbl.
TriGen Energy plans to develop 15 global projects in 5 years. Market and feasibility studies of 14 projects over the last 8 years have shown there is a potential market of 75 projects, using current technology. Further efficiency/cost improvements could expand this market to 1000 projects.
