During my law enforcement career, I was eventually issued a tourniquet, chest seals, and wound packing gauze, but given little to no training. After a few experiences where these tools and skills would have saved lives, I took it upon myself to seek out training. I became a certified EMT, led emergency trauma care training for a SWAT Team, and developed an emergency trauma care course for my agency. I saw the need to provide in-depth training that is relevant and useful. After teaching more than 150 law enforcement officers, the course has proven successful with multiple lives being saved by officers who attended and were able to use these skills.
After transitioning out of law enforcement I took a managerial role in asset protection investigations in the retail world. I quickly realized this training was not available, but desperately needed in the asset protection/loss prevention world. Associates are contacting suspects with no training on what to do if things go bad. Most companies are required to have workplace violence courses, but none offer training on what to do when things go bad.
