The Trinity Student Medical Journal (TSMJ) is a peer-reviewed open access journal that was established in 1999. The TSMJ is student-run and student-led with academic support and advice from the School of Medicine. It was encouraged by founding academic advisors Professor Moira O’Brien and Professor Conleth Feighery and our continued gratitude is extended to them both.
The journal aims to provide a platform for students to communicate current original medical or health science related research. Over the years, the TSMJ has also become renowned for being an excellent port of call for students, providing opinions and features on a wide range of topics highlighting views and experiences from all aspects of the medical profession.
Articles are accepted from students in medicine and other healthcare fields from any of the Irish Universities, as it is our view that medicine is the meeting point of many health science disciplines. Through this we seek to continue to promote the thriving state of student research across Ireland in the context of the rapidly changing face of contemporary medicine.
Articles are reviewed by a panel of editors drawn from the student body of Trinity College Dublin. All our articles can be found free to access on our website and indexed in Google Scholar. Hard copies of the TSMJ are distributed in the main TCD hospitals, the TCD libraries, as well as all legal deposit libraries in Ireland and in the UK.
