Every year, about one third of all food produced for human consumption goes to waste. Even if consumers are responsible for the largest part of food waste, the food industry, retail and wholesale trade are also accountable for almost a quarter of food waste. By transforming vegetable food losses from industrial food companies and retail into a high quality circular feed ingredient, Trotec offers a valuable solution to this problem.
The products we process are no longer suitable for human consumption and mainly consist of cookies, bread, chocolate, candy, potato chips, pasta or breakfast cereals. Via a CO2- low production process, we transform these valuable products into a high quality circular ingredient that significantly lowers de CO2-footprint of the animal feed industry thus keeping them within the food chain.
Trotec also is specialized in the safe, efficient and sustainable processing and unpacking of different types of packaging. In this manner, we go for total recycling, because both the packaging and the former foodstuff are given a second life at Trotec, nothing goes to waste.
Thanks to years of experience and continuous technological innovation, Trotec has become the master in circular ingredients. More than 450 industrial food companies in Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Germany collaborate with Trotec for the processing of their food losses.
