Truman Data has built the Energy Coop Platform, a cloud-based, AI-driven Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) designed to unlock energy flexibility in buildings. The platform acts as a virtual power plant serving two main customers: 1) Real estate portfolio owners: cities, municipalities, pension funds, BlackRock, and others, can access demand response markets to sell energy flexibility, reduce consumption, and datafy assets without vendor lock-in. 2) Energy companies use the platform for sector coupling, offering automated flexibility services to their end customers in the built environment. A key component is ForeCoop, our IoT bridge (soon on www.truman.cloud), which connects energy assets directly to the cloud. It can be used standalone or integrated with the Energy Coop Platform to enable seamless real-time market participation. ForeCoop is technically advanced, competitively priced, and endorsed by one of Finland’s largest energy companies. Both the platform and ForeCoop operate fully automatically, powered by high-frequency trading bots developed with VTT. These bots perform real-time price bidding, balancing the grid and creating fair market value for buyers and sellers. With renewable energy growth comes volatility, making flexibility crucial for grid stability. Europe’s flexible energy market could reach EUR 90–120 billion by 2035, with buildings as a key source of flexibility. Currently, most building owners lack access to this market and cannot monetize their energy assets. Truman Data builds the Cloud Computing Energy Coop PaaS to enable cities, REITs, housing companies, and energy providers to trade flexible energy, delivering significant economic and climate benefits at scale.
