TTOP is a modular, versatile, and user-friendly microphysiological platform that aims to make drug development processes efficient, secure and ethical.
Bringing a new drug to the market demands, on average, 2 billion dollars and over 10-12 years of R&D, yet more than 80% of these candidate drugs fail to succeed in clinical trials (due to limited efficacy or cell toxicity). Traditional in vitro cell models have limited predictivity given their limited suitability to reproduce tissue-like structures. However, animal models fail to guarantee the translation of these results into humans, and their use introduces various ethical concerns.
Therefore, True Tissue On Platform (TTOP) seeks to reinvent biotechnology research by guaranteeing more predictive preclinical results with the use of advanced in vitro systems, which allow the replication of complex human pathophysiological conditions, contributing to a more sustainable, ethical and animal-free drug development process.
