About ALT The Academy for Learning and Teaching (ALT) supports education innovation in TU/e, and is founded on the following principles and objectives: Vision - To establish TU/e as an institution that is internationally renowned for its academic staff of high quality, and innovative engineering education. - To facilitate and stimulate research, knowledge, and expertise sharing on engineering education across departments, by constructing learning communities among peers and experts. - To become a center of expertise for teachers’ professional development on evidence-based education innovation. Mission - To support staff to further develop and expand their knowledge on education innovations, expertise, and skills, becoming internationally renowned education leaders. - To support all teachers in improving the quality of their teaching – that is, optimizing the learning process of students, arising from evidence-based and research-led education. - To support individual, departmental, and university-wide initiatives by creating a culture of exchange of knowledge and research, and promote the professional development of teachers who can contribute to the development of the vision and strategy on education. Goals - To provide academic teaching staff with the opportunity to develop their vision and expertise on teaching and learning. - To promote sharing of experiences for continued learning from peers in a community, contributing to further professionalization by exchanging knowledge and expertise on education innovations. - To gain recognition of university education and produce internationally renowned education leaders. - To continually improve the quality of education, arising from evidence-based and research-led education.
