About The Tunza Fund
The Tunza Fund is an impact-first, innovative, concessional, and evergreen debt facility catalyzing sustainable, climate-resilient land management in and around African conservancies. Tunza is a Kiswahili word meaning “to nurture or care for”. Looking to raise 10m USD in blended capital and deploy 17m USD over the next 10 years to conserve 100,000 ha of land, sequester 5m tCo2e of carbon and generate in excess of 70m USD in economic value for local communities and landowners. The Tunza Fund is being developed through a consortium of four partners: Platcorp Group, Conservation International, Conservation Capital and Sustain East Africa. Initial investments are being targeted in the Northern Maasai Mara in Southern Kenya. The pilot investments and proof of concept are being supported by the Climate Finance Lab, WWF UK and the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development.
