About Turnitin for Admissions

Plagiarism Detection and Content Verification For Admissions iParadigms launched Turnitin for Admissions in December 2009 to satisfy the needs and requests of the market for a verification system developed specifically for applicant created documents such as admissions essays, personal statements, and scholarship essays. This need was verified with a market test in 2007 using a beta service. Turnitin for Admissions provides information to help make fair and more informed choices when evaluating applicant-created documents. Uploaded documents are verified to help discover plagiarism, recycled submissions, duplicate responses, purchased documents, and other seemingly transparent problems. This web-based service compares submitted documents to a database of Internet content, subscription content, and previously submitted documents to create a comprehensive Similarity Report. The multi-layered Similarity Report highlights matching text in a side-by-side report and provides links to any significant matches found within the document that have been found with a pattern matching technology (not key word search or word string matching).
