The first private equity fund that lets individuals, trusts, companies, and pension funds invest in green energy assets, and benefit from the SARS-approved Section 12B tax allowance. Twelve B Green Energy Fund 1 is investing in a portfolio of renewable energy projects focused on sectional title complexes and select commercial and industrial installations. These installations incorporate the latest technology in solar panels, inverters, and battery storage. All installations are outsourced to approved 3rd party EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) companies, as well as operation and maintenance (O&M) partners. We are administered by Grovest, the pioneers of Section 12J, who operationalised the first fund in 2014. Today, Grovest is the largest administrator of Section 12J funds, with over R3.5 billion in funds under administration. Section 12J was the fastest growing alternative asset class in South Africa, with over R12 billion of capital raised across 200+ funds. The Section 12J tax incentive reached its sunset clause in June 2021. * The adjusted tax incentive of 125% will only be available for installations that generate electricity for the first time between 1 March 2023 – 28 February 2025.
