Type Diabeat It, established in 2018, is an organization dedicated to empowering and supporting the BPOC community in London. Our primary focus is on providing education and assistance to BPOC children, youths, and families who are living with or at risk for diabetes. The relevance of our work is underscored by current statistics that highlight the elevated risk of Type 2 Diabetes among BPOC communities. In Southwestern Ontario we are the first Black-led organization that focuses on food security, creating a sustainable food network (planting, harvesting, and processing) while targeting the disproportionate rates of diabetes within the BPOC community.
