TyreSafe (currently a concept) will be based around the use of a mobile application that will help people change their behaviour and attitude to tyre care for their vehicles and help reduce the number of tyre related accidents on Irish roads. It has been noted by a current RSA campaign that poorly managed tyres on vehicles have contributed to a rise in road deaths recorded last year.
The user will be shown, on a map, local Tyre suppliers. The user arrives at the supplier and all tyres would be checked. The supplier would make recommendations to the user. The Supplier would be able to digitally sign the users App to record the visit. The App would continue to keep the User informed by ensuring they are reminded regularly to attend local tyre supplier for check-ups. This information will ensure that tyres would be changed before they become dangerous and not road worthy. Best practice tips for tyre care in all conditions would also be a feature.
Rewards
The App would not just make users more aware of their tyre but give an rewards for using the App. One feature of the App would be to reward users with ‘points’ to incentivise best practice. Points would be rewarded for tyre choice, the higher quality the greater the points. User would also receive points per visit to supplier. Overall the rewards system would work as a method of rewarding good behaviour when it comes to Tyre care.
Insurance Companies/State Agencies
If the user of the App shows that they are taking proper care of their tyres then this would allow the Insurance company to reduce premiums as a reward for safer practices. Users are able to create a digital log of their activities, i.e Tyre choice, changes and supplier visits etc. The information would be shared with Insurance companies. Users would receive financial rewards in the form of premium reductions based on the points user has accumulated. The information would also be made available to be accessed by Gardai regarding each vehicles Tyre check history.
