تُوجت جهود الصحفيين في وطننا العزيز بتأسيس جمعية الصحفيين في يناير من عام 2000، وقد تم إشهار الجمعية رسمياً بالقرار الوزاري رقم (588) بتاريخ 30/9/2000، بعد سنوات من الجهد لإيجاد تنظيم مدني يجمع في عضويته العاملين بصحافة الإمارات؛ للارتقاء والنهوض بالمهنة والعاملين فيها وللدفاع عن مصالح وحقوق الصحفيين، وإيجاد قناة تعبر عنهم وتتحدث باسم جموع الصحفيين أمام مؤسسات الدولة كافة، والأهم من كل ذلك العمل على تعزيز مفاهيم حرية الصحافة بما يتفق والأسس المجتمعية لدولة الإمارات في نظامها العربي. ولقد نجح الصحفيون في تأسيس "جمعية الصحفيين"؛ لتصبح أول منبر إعلامي مدني يجمع العاملين بهذه المهنة التي أصبحت جزءاً من كيان الدولة وعلامة بارزة من علامات تطورها ونهضتها الحديثة والتي يتباهى بها كل أرجاء الوطن الحبيب. The efforts of journalists in our beloved country culminated in the establishment of the Journalists Association in January 2000. The association was officially declared by Ministerial Decision No. 588 on September 30, 2000, following years of striving to establish a civil organization that unites those working in journalism in the UAE. Its aim is to elevate and advance the profession and its practitioners, defend the interests and rights of journalists, and provide a channel to represent them before all state institutions. Most importantly, it works to reinforce the concepts of press freedom in line with the societal principles of the UAE within its Arab framework. Journalists succeeded in founding the "Journalists Association" to become the first civil media platform uniting professionals in this field, which has become an integral part of the country's identity and a prominent symbol of its modern development and progress, of which every corner of our beloved nation takes pride in.
