The Undergraduate Physiology Students’ Association (UPSA) is a student-led initiative designed to support undergraduates in the Honours Physiology program at the University of Alberta.
The UPSA hosts a variety of academic seminars and information sessions to inform students of the opportunities available to them during their degree, including research and lab availability, certificates, and course options within the program. In collaboration with the department, the UPSA runs annual laboratory tours to provide the opportunity for students to learn about various areas of research they can participate in for their honours thesis project.
Similarly, this group offers several social events throughout the academic year to establish connections amongst students and professors within the department such as the annual Meet-and-Greet BBQ. The UPSA also produces physiology branded merchandise to bolster a sense of pride and community within the department. Various fundraisers are hosted throughout the year help to support these initiatives.
