Department of Economic Development was established on January 3, 1995, under the Emiri Decree No. (1). At that time, it was known as the "Department of Economic Development in Umm Al Quwain." On December 27, 2009, with the blessing of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, the department's name was changed to "Department of Economic Development" has been re-drafting tasks aims to meet changes in the economic sector and to develop and push the economic agenda of Umm Al Quwain.
The Department of Economic Development (DED) is the government body entrusted to set and drive the economic agenda of the emirate of UAQ, UAE. The DED supports the structural transformation of UAQ into a diversified, innovative service-based economy that aims to improve the business environment and accelerate productivity growth.
The UAQDED and its agencies develop economic plans and policies, identify and support the growth of strategic sectors, and provide services to domestic and international investors and businesses.
