UBICAR Team

UBICAR TEAM started its history in 2000 at the initiative of Eng. Humberto Santos, to compete in the Shell Eco-marathon. It was created by the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at UBI, in Covilhã, with the help of the following professors: Luís Pires, Mesquita Nunes and Abílio Silva. The team currently has 33 members, constituted by teachers and students. Employing elements from different fields such as Communication, Marketing, Management, Engineering: Electromechanical, Industrial Management, Aeronautics, Mechanics and Electrotechnics and Computers. The UBIAN, our latest project, is an energy-efficient car, complying with the rules of the Shell Eco-marathon, to cover the largest number of kilometers with one liter of fuel. We initially competed in the prototype category, but since 2008 we have competed in the Urban Concept category. In 2000 this project won the 1st place in design and professional fraternity in Nogaro (France), in 2012 won the 1st edition of Madrid (Spain) Ecocity and were awarded by the National Geographic People's Choice. In 2013 UBICAR won the 3rd place, with the gasoline mark of 234 Km/l in Rotterdam (Nederland), in 2015 we reached 3rd place in the Urban Concept category. We are a team that always seeks to go further producing, developing, knowledge, critical spirit and our teamwork. At the same time as we seek to achieve the maximum efficiency of our vehicle.
