The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) was founded in 1983 and has grown since to become the largest department in the Samueli School of Engineering at UC Irvine, today. We perform cutting-edge research in a range of areas of EECS; we educate the next generation of scientists, engineers, and leaders; we connect with the industry; we strive to serve the needs of our local community; and we promote inclusive excellence. We believe that engineering plays an integral role in the modernization of society by leading the development of the fundamentals, devices and systems that benefit humankind and create value through innovation.
