Uckfield Town Council company information, Employees & Contact Information

The Town Council is made up of 15 Councillors who are elected every four years. The next planned elections will be in 2019. The Town Mayor and the Deputy Town Mayor are elected by the Councillors each year at the Annual Statutory Meeting of the Council held in May. At the same meeting Councillors are appointed to the council’s standing committees for the coming year and who will be the Council’s Representatives to Outside Bodies. All Council meetings are held in the Council Chamber, on the first floor of the Civic Centre and are open to the public. Agendas are available to the public prior to the meetings, on notice boards throughout the town and on the Council’s website. At these meetings members of the public are allowed to address Councillors, on items on the agenda at the discretion of the Chairman of each meeting. The Council Offices are situated on the first floor of the Civic Centre, and are open Monday to Thursday 9.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 9.00am to 4.00pm. The Town is also represented by five District Councillors and two County Councillors. The Civic Centre was built in 1991 and it has been the home of the Uckfield Town Council since that time. It was designed also to play an important role in the community by providing excellent facilities for a variety of users. The building has been developed to use a range of environmental and energy-saving technologies including a biomass boiler and PV solar panels. The Civic Centre is conveniently situated in the heart of the town, just off the High Street with a free public car park nearby. The centre hosts Luxfords (a restaurant and cafe), seven function rooms of various sizes available to hire and Weald Hall, perfect for large scale conferences, sales, and where several events are held each year. There is disabled access to both ground and first floors. The Civic Centre also participates in the Community Toilet Scheme. The Centre also hires out the Council’s other venues e.g. Foresters Hall and Luxford Field.
