It is an honour to have been elected with 52% of vote, representing over 3000 people as the first ever Labour Wealden District Councillor in its fifty-year existence. In under 100 days I ensured that Uckfield Leisure Centre and swimming pool would stay open, achieving my key election pledge. I will continue to work hard by standing up for residents in the years to come.

I chaired the Audit and Finance committee of a busy local authority, scrutinising the management of resources and assets worth in excess of £739 million on behalf of over 160,000 residents. I am also leading on governance issues, chairing a working party that is rewriting the council's current constitution from scratch.

As Deputy Chair, I helped to set the program for the committee, bringing issues such as private sector housing and the cost of living to the agenda. I held the council's political and officer leadership to account and questioned representatives from external agencies, including the CEO of South East Water.

As one of the UK's youngest councillors, running for public office was a huge learning process. I share political responsibility for a budget of over £1.5m, employing over 30 staff, and managing dozens of buildings, play areas, and nature reserves. I proudly advocate for thousands of residents in my ward.
