UConn Masters in Data Science Program

The University of Connecticut offers both on-campus and online Master of Science in Data Science degree programs designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in data analysis and its application to multiple industry sectors and fields of practice. Students can complete their degree in as little as 11 months, including a required 3-credit hour applied industry-based capstone project. The core curriculum includes a year of machine learning in Python, a year of statistics in R, and courses in ethics, visualization, and experimental design. The student body has diverse educational backgrounds and most have work experience in fields such as financial services, software engineering, applied math, and life sciences. The program places extensive focus on data ethics and equity and develops core competencies that are aligned with workforce and industry needs. The curriculum combines the expertise of faculty from five schools and colleges: the College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources, the School of Business, the School of Engineering, the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, and the Neag School of Education.
