Uffner & Liu

Uffner & Liu is a contemporary art gallery based in New York City’s Lower East Side. Established in 2008 by Rachel Uffner, the gallery was founded with a commitment to supporting artists across generations and disciplines. Over the past 17 years, it has built a reputation as a dynamic platform for emerging talent, with a strong focus on championing female-identifying artists and cultivating meaningful relationships with institutions. The gallery first opened in a compact storefront on Orchard Street before relocating to a substantially larger venue on Suffolk Street in 2014. In 2019, the space was further expanded to encompass two floors and 5,000 square feet, with three exhibition areas, soaring 20-foot ceilings, and an abundance of natural light—providing artists with a flexible and ambitious environment in which to realize their work. In 2025, Gallery Director Lucy Liu joined as Partner, launching a new chapter for the gallery under the name Uffner & Liu. The partnership builds on the gallery’s original vision while embracing a broader curatorial scope and a growing international presence.
