For over 25 years, the UGent advanced Master of Banking and Finance (MBF) provides students a thorough micro- and macrofinancial training, and a mastery of data science and quantitative risk management techniques. By taking the MBF you learn to apply state-of-the-art methods to solve problems in banks or other financial intermediaries, and to formulate and implement innovative solutions. The master is unique in Belgium by its focus on combining banking, finance, economics and data science techniques. The program attracts on average 20 students per year and has a high teacher-per-student ratio facilitating lively interactions. MBF professors are a mix of industry experts and research professors. Most courses include problem-based assignments. The thesis consists of solving a company problem in combination with an internship at a bank, consultancy company, fintech, or insurance company.
