The industry-led Accelerated Settlement Taskforce was originally launched in December 2022 as part of the UK Government’s ‘Edinburgh Reforms’ to explore the potential for faster settlement of securities transactions in the UK.
Following its recommendations(the Geffen Report, published March 2024), a Technical Group was convened to define and deliver the UK T+1 plan. To date, 400-plus individual volunteers, representing 99 financial institutions, firms and industry associations, are actively engaged in this ‘technical’ conversation, with workstreams focused on: Operations, Alignment, Trading & Liquidity, Lessons from North America and Legal & Regulatory.
