Ulu Lāhui Foundation company information, Employees & Contact Information

Ulu Lāhui Foundation (ULF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Native Hawaiian Organization committed to promoting and supporting the socio-economic advancement of Native Hawaiian communities in Hawaiʻi. We are passionate about providing K-12 STEM education that is relevant and engaging for our youth, because we believe this is a pathway to hoʻoulu lāhui (uplift the people). Throughout our efforts, we co-create educational experiences that reflect teacher’s and student’s unique māhele ʻāina (small land division), celebrating the diverse backgrounds and experiences of their community. Place-based Learning and Culturally Engaged STEM (PLACES) Education, an initiative of ULF, was developed over five years with funding from the National Science Foundation to address the demand for culturally relevant STEM education, with findings/insights shared through numerous peer-reviewed publications and technical reports. Created to meet the Computer Science standards set by the Hawaiʻi Department of Education, and Kaiapuni programs standards for immersion education, PLACES Education includes curricula, professional development, tools, and resources - in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi and English.
