The University of Massachusetts Lowell Applied Research Corporation (UMLARC) is an affiliated entity of the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell) that was formally established as a 501c3 entity on June 24, 2020. The Applied Research Corporation operates independently of the University, and issues separate financial statements, but its business and financial operations are coordinated with those of UMass Lowell.
The purpose of the Corporation is to promote research at The University of Massachusetts Lowell by providing efficient and effective applied research and development, contracting, grant, and other administration services in conjunction with the University and its research partners and to offer superior analytic and technology solutions to government and non-government consumers, thereby extending the impact of the University technology enterprise. The corporation is focused on, but not limited to, applied research and development, linking its core competencies to the United States Department of Defense requirements and providing rapid and innovative solutions for defense and commercial consumers.
