University of Malaya Postgraduate Law Society

The postgraduate students of the University of Malaya Faculty of Law proudly presents the ✨UNIVERSITY OF MALAYA POSTGRADUATE LAW SOCIETY (UMPGLS) ✨ The UM Faculty of Law was established in 1972. It began with only 50 students at its inception but today, the Faculty of Law has over 900 students encompassing both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Over the years, the impressive line up of alumni of the UM Faculty of Law established various law societies, all of which have been invaluable to students. However, there remains a gap - none of the societies provide the support that postgraduate students need in their journey to obtain a Masters degree or a Doctoral degree… until this Summer 2023 when 14 postgraduate students joined forces to come up with the proposal to set up this Society. Through hard work and commitment of the Pro Tem Committee, the support of our honourable Dean Professor Jason Chuah and Deputy Dean (PG) Dr Haezreena Begum and the guidance of Dr Zalina binti Abdul Halim and Dr Ong Tze Chin, the UM Postgraduate Law Society was approved by the Vice Chancellor on 28 July 2023. We are grateful for this milestone and look forward to realising our Vision and Mission, set down below:- 🏹 Our Vision: To create a peer-run platform that supports all postgraduate students at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya. 📝 Our Mission: To advocate for the interests of the student body & To provide support and services to the student body.
