About UMSATS (University of Manitoba Space Applications and Technology Society)

UMSATS is a student driven design society at the University of Manitoba that has two divisions: CubeSat and Rocketry. The CubeSat Division designs and builds 3U nanosatellites to compete in the Canadian Satellite Design Challenge (CSDC), while the Rocketry Division designs and builds high-power rockets to compete in Spaceport America Cup (SAC) and Launch Canada Challenge (LCC). We are a highly interdisciplinary group with members from the faculties of Engineering, Science, Business, Education, and Arts. The CubeSat Division began its activities in October of 2010 by competing in the first CSDC, while the Rocketry Division first competed in 2019 SAC. Our team consists of passionate, driven, and hardworking students ranging from 1st year of university to graduate students.
