Mechanics of solids belongs to the foundations of mechanical engineering. During your studies with us, you will master the most modern computational and experimental methods in this area and their application in assessing stiffness, strength, operational reliability, dynamic properties of machine structures, etc. In addition to the mechanics of bodies, we also provide a comprehensive education in the fields of mechatronics and biomechanics. Our research activity can be characterized by a high level but also by a broad scope, which is evidenced by examples of the fields we are dedicated to: biomechanics of the skeletal-muscular, cardiovascular and auditory systems of humans, mechatronic systems. We cooperate closely with other scientific research institutions and maintain contacts with a number of foreign universities and partners. We deal with the following areas of science and research: • Constitutive models and limit states for special types of materials (particle and fiber composites, elastomers, laminates) • Numerical simulation of selected technological operations, ductile fracture at large plastic deformations • Two-parameter fracture mechanics • Measurement of residual stress • Dynamics of rotor systems • Noise and vibration • Modeling of dynamic properties of interactive dynamic systems research and development of mechatronic systems biomechanics of human skeletal-muscular, cardiovascular and auditory systems
