The mission of the Centre for Financial Studies is as follows:
1. To manage courses focused on investments, including its progenitor, the Student Investment Fund (SIF).
2. To embed experiential learning into the UNB business management program by integrating industry engagement with traditional business studies.
3. To support applied research among UNB finance faculty members.
4. To provide additional learning opportunities for both students and established financial managers, in order to build financial expertise in the Atlantic Canada.
The purpose of our LinkedIn presence is initially oriented toward students as well as alumni of SIF and MQIM. The Centre aims to ensure that you have the tools and experience necessary to launch and enhance your finance career.
Student Investment Fund (SIF): We believe that UNB’s fund may be the largest student investment fund in Canada. We intend to produce job ready investment management candidates.
Master in Quantitative Investment Management (MQIM): The Centre works to provide experiential learning for MQIM graduate students.
Bloomberg: We provide access to the highly sought Bloomberg Terminal to make students learn and apply the tools already in use in the finance industry.
CFA: We are also part of Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA University Affiliation Program). We invest significant efforts to help students in their journey towards CFA charterholder.
Interactions with Industry Experts: Thanks to several partnerships within the investment industry, we provide students many opportunities throughout the year to meet experts, listen to their advice and learn from their experiences.
Competitions: We train students not only to participate but to win various national competitions.
We are located within the Faculty of Management at UNB. The Centre for Financial Studies has a number of ways to help you learn about the finance industry. More importantly, we will help you experience it.
