University of New Brunswick research laboratory in the Faculty of Kinesiology in Fredericton, NB, CANADA co-founded in 2015 by Dr. Martin Sénéchal and Dr. Danielle Bouchard. Our lab explores physical activity, obesity, aging, diabetes and cardiometabolic health. We work with community partners like local nursing homes, Obesity Canada and Diabetes Canada to translate our research into better health for New Brunswickers.
Dr. Martin Sénéchal is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of New Brunswick Fredericton. Dr. Sénéchal did a bachelor and a master in kinesiology as well as a Ph.D. from University of Sherbrooke. Dr. Sénéchal did a first postdoctoral fellowship at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center (PBRC) in Louisiana. His second postdoctoral fellowship was performed at the Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM) in Winnipeg.
Dr. Sénéchal is a certified exercise physiologist from the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology and an Affiliated Member of IMPART Team Canada. Dr. Sénéchal is also a board member of PLOS One and an Academic Editor for this journal as well as an editor for Metabolic Syndrome Related Disorders journal and a co-investigator of Diabetes Action Canada.
Dr. Danielle Bouchard is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of New Brunswick Fredericton. Dr. Bouchard has a Bachelor’s in Physical Education from the Université de Moncton, a MSc. from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières in Exercise Sciences and a Ph.D from the Université de Sherbrooke in Gerontology.
She has completed two post-doctoral trainings, the first one in Epidemiology at Queen’s University, and the second one in Endocrinology at the Université de Sherbrooke.
She is also an invigilator for certifications from the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP). She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Aging and Physical Activity.
