About Underground Space

Underground Space ISSN: 2096-2754(Print) 2467-9674(Online) CN: 31-2130 Production and Hosting by Elsevier B.V. on behalf of Tongji University and Tongji University Press Editor-in-Chief: Hehua Zhu, Antonio Bobet, Teruo Nakai The planning, design, construction and maintenance of underground space plays a very important role in the global sustainable development due to the huge worldwide demand of infrastructure to accommodate the growing urbanised populations and the numerous renewal of aged facilities. Innovation is the main driving force in underground space engineering for both developing and developed countries. Although the primitive development of underground space in human history can be traced back over hundreds of years, the utilization of the invaluable underground resources has not yet reached a satisfactory state, and a long way ahead remains from perfection in the coming decades. Underground Space, An International Journal, provides a scientific forum for researchers and engineers worldwide to exchange their new ideas, technologies and expertise related to the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the underground space facilities. The goal of Underground Space is to publish original high quality research articles and informative field case histories. Detailed scientific and/or engineering contributions in such areas as retaining structures, deep excavations, tunnels, and other specific underground structures are welcome. The works that not only address theoretical research of soil/rock mechanics and/or structural mechanics but also involve applications to practical engineering in underground space are particularly preferred.Submissions: All manuscripts should be submitted electronically through our online submission and peer review system at https://www.evise.com/evise/jrnl/UNDSP.
