UNICEF Madagascar

With a population of nearly 30 million people, half of them under the age of 18, the future of Madagascar belongs to young people. UNICEF Madagascar is committed to improving their lives. By 2028, UNICEF aims to vaccinate 90% of children under one-year-old against measles, up from the current rate of 69%. We’re also working to increase access to safe water, which currently only 58% of the population can reach, to improve the health and well-being of the population, while improving reading and numeracy skills in children aged 7 to 14. Reducing early marriage and early pregnancies are also priorities in a country where 39% of women are married before the age of 18, as is improving childhood nutrition to address stunting.
