In 2010 a small group of successful Adelaide business people decided to get together and “pay it forward”, today with over 200 small grants awarded by UCF, they want to invite you to be a part of this journey. UCF has created a simple and cost effective way to provide practical support and encouragement to local charities. In many cases, small non-profits full of “local heroes” just don’t have the capacity to apply for grants, or their programme simply aren’t big enough. At UCF, we’re different, the application is completed through a simple application form, and charities have an answer by the next month. Applications are assessed monthly. This means that once a month UCF board members get together and assess applications, granting charities with the funds they need to complete a special project. The Ripple Effect UCF makes every dollar count, we know that sometimes a “small grant” can make all the difference to whether a programme or project is implemented or not. That is why our grants are typically up to $3,000. UCF wants to make sure every project we fund will contribute to much more than a “single use” item, we want our grants to effect as many people as possible. When choosing a charity to donate, very often your donation goes into a large bucket of general funds to help a well-known, specific cause. The majority of those are high profile large organisations which are supported by Foundation and Government grants. However the small non-profits we know of miss out. The small charities we fund typically do not have large grant support, yet they are often providing much needed services and have projects which their small budgets simply don’t stretch to cover. Another different aspect of UCF is that we have an 100% Directors Guarantee. Our directors meet all costs associated with the operation of the fund so that 100% of your donation goes to support local charities.
