UPI was formed in February 2008 when two Houston-based companies, Universal Ensco and Pegasus International, were acquired by KRG Capital Partners, a well-established private equity firm. The objective was to build a unique, world-class company that provides clients with a broad range of engineering and project management services focused on the gathering, transmission and processing of hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon-based products, both onshore and offshore.
Founded in 1961, Universal Ensco is the largest pipeline engineering firm in North America and developed innovative technologies for completing projects and adding value to client businesses. Founded in 1981, Pegasus, one of the world’s foremost engineering and project management firms, is recognized for its technical problem-solving expertise in some of the world’s most challenging conditions. In 2009 acquisitions of Integrated Pipeline Projects Canada Limited (IPPCL), a pipeline engineering and project management firm located in Calgary, occurred adding even more expertise.
