渥絳會 University of Ottawa Hong Kong Cultural Association (UOHKCA)

Founded in July 2022, UOHKCA is the only student association in the National Capital Region focusing on Cantonese-speaking culture. UOHKCA’s objective is to regularly host events related to various cultural aspects of Hong Kong, such as cuisine making and tasting, movie nights, games nights, as well as seminars and conferences that focus on the Cantonese culture. In addition to cultural aspects, UOHKCA also aid Cantonese-speaking students in their integration into the local community. As a non-profit organization registered under the university, we aim to unite anyone interested in the Hong Kong and Cantonese cultures. 渥絳，意思是深紅色，亦是渥太華大學的代表色。「渥絳」一詞出自明朝詩人夏完淳《秋郊賦》：「苔總翠而嬋娟，蕉渥絳而婉孌。」 渥絳會成立於2022年7月，是渥太華唯一以宣揚粵語文化為己任的學生協會。本協會定期舉辦與香港文化 相關的活動，例如烹飪示範、 美食節、港產電影欣賞、遊戲節目，以及關注粵語文化的研討會等等。除了文化方面，本會也致力協助所有以粵語為母語的學生融入當地社區。作為大學註冊的非牟利組織，我們旨在凝聚所有對香港和粵語文化感興趣的年青人， 一起攜手創造未來， 傳揚文化多元的精神。
