UP Environment and Tourism Society

The UP Environment and Tourism Society (UP Ecotour) is among the student organizations in the University of the Philippines Asian Institute of Tourism that has a commitment in preserving our environment. It was founded in August 1996 by Percivil Carrera, and from then on, UP Ecotour had never ceased in dedicating itself to projects and activities that would help increase the awareness of its members, fellow students inside and outside the university, and countrymen. Flagship events that the organization hold annually include Ecoskool, an initiative that aims to teach children the basics of the environment and how their actions can help preserve it at an early age; National Congress on Environmental Sustainability (NCES), a inter-university sysmposia which includes the Domestikwhiz, a quiz-bee held to promote domestic tourism and to foster camaraderie among college students; and Ecotourista, an annual coastal clean-up drive. One of its major achievements is the production of a benefit concert held as a celebration for Earth Day, dubbed as Rockalikasan, where all profits are used for Ecoskool and the chosen beneficiary. The organization is also proud to have been recognized by the Gawad AIT as the Best Student Organization in the Asian Institute of Tourism consecutively from 2005-2008 and 2014-2018.
