If I were on the job market right now (even if still employed), here is what I would do to get a job without having a burnout.
I would use my 5:60:5 Method: 5 job search tasks • 60 min/day • 5 days/week
My 5 tasks? -Aimed at creating a balance between outbound and inbound job search.
Task #1: Decide my path forward
Not just any jobs. Find ones that truly fit the criteria that I am looking for in a new role.
Then personalize my application for the job description and make the recommended updates.
Use ChatGPT to craft a personalized cover letter, then review and edit it.
Task #2: Gather what I need
Find 3 new contacts who could influence my ability to get hired at a target company. Reach out with personalized connection requests, or custom emails.
Task #3: Leverage what I have
There is nothing wrong with letting people know that you are on the look out for a new role. I would reach out to 3 people who are already in my network, and start a conversation, focused on both parties.
People can smell genuineness from miles away!
Task #4: Comment On 3 LinkedIn Posts
Commenting is one of the single best ways to get visibility on LinkedIn.
I would scroll through my feed or use the search bar to find a 3 posts that resonate with me, and add value adding comments to them.
Task #5: Comment On Target Company Posts
Did you know employers can see if you’ve comment on content from their Company page? I would review the company pages for my target companies.
For any with recent posts, I would add a value-driven comment.
I would do this 5 Days / Week and take the weekend off to recharge my batteries.
Each week, this approach would get me:
15 applications
15 new potential relationships established
15 existing relationships rekindled
15+ comments for more visibility
And by the end of the month, with 60 min/day, and without a burn out, I would have:
60 applications
60 new potential relationships established
60 existing relationships rekindled
60+ comments for more visibility
BUILD SYSTEMS. Nothing will feel like a burden anymore. This is a TOTALLY DOABLE framework for even those who are currently employed.
