Upstate Pride SC empowers people of all gender expressions and sexual identities in the Upstate of South Carolina by promoting acceptance through education, advocacy and networking.
UPSC was formed in 2008 to address a need for a localized advocacy group to provide leadership in the LGBTQ+ community. Since then, the organization has promoted equality and acceptance with great intention to intersectionality and collaboration with other organizations working with marginalized communities. Our events are all-inclusive regardless of ethnicity, identity, orientation and gender.
We are proud to host the Black Pride March & Festival in Greenville in June and the Fall March & Festival in Spartanburg in November. The first festival was held in Spartanburg in 2009, and since then, it has grown year-over-year with even greater accessibility and visibility within the community. The Black Pride March & Festival in downtown Greenville is now our largest festival and continues to grow every year, welcoming an astounding 11,000+ attendees in 2023.
