How can a philosophically rooted approach to urban social work become relevant for practitioners? Four HEI’s and six social work organizations from Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Helsinki and Ghent form an EU-funded strategic partnership: Urban SOS.
The project promotes a new framework for urban social work utilizing analysis of values and practice wisdom as sources of action; so-called phronetic analysis (Flyvbjerg, 2012). The project maps and analyses intersections between urbanisation, lived experiences and social issues in Europe, and develops educational materials that support educators, students and practitioners engaged in urban communities. The purpose is to support the production of socially just and sustainable solutions to social issues in cities.
