Alfredo Brillembourg founded the Urban–Think Tank (U–TT) collective in 1998 as an informal multi-disciplinary research group in his home in Altamira, Caracas. In 2019, Brillembourg created Urban Think Tank Design Group joining the existing offices of Caracas, New York, São Paulo, Geneva, Cape Town, and Oslo to form an integrated company, with new partner Tord W-F Isdal.
