UROP at San Jose State University

The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) at San Jose State University is a vibrant community dedicated to fostering innovation, academic excellence, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Through UROP, students are empowered to pursue their research passions and build strong connections with faculty mentors across a variety of fields. Launched in 2021 with a small cohort of just 13 students, UROP has rapidly grown to encompass nearly 70 students as of 2024. By pairing talented undergraduates with experienced faculty researchers, UROP offers mentorship and support that help students develop critical thinking skills, enhance their academic and professional profiles, and make meaningful contributions to scholarship at SJSU and beyond. UROP’s mission is to cultivate a new generation of innovators and scholars by providing students with world-class research opportunities right on campus. Our participants gain hands-on experience in their fields, engage in groundbreaking research projects, and build the skills necessary to excel in graduate studies or in their chosen careers.
