UT Austin Defense Research Advancement

UT Austin's Defense Research Advancement (DRA) is a dedicated team in the Office of the Vice President for Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors. Acting as a liaison, we engage with campus researchers and the Department of Defense (DOD) to solve complex challenges, advance scientific discovery, and train a relevant workforce. The DRA team has an overall understanding of science and technology priorities across services and is focused on connecting UT's technical expertise and capabilities with DOD needs and gaps. We also steward research partnerships with military departments and defense agencies including the Air Force, Army, Navy, Space Force, DARPA, DTRA and others, and interface with the rapidly growing national security ecosystem in Austin, TX.
