Utilities Digital Innovation Hub

UDIH was born out of the necessity to help and support the digital transformation of the utilities industry which faces unprecedented pressure to transform and improve. Facilitating the digital uptake in these "change-aversive" sectors is our core objective. We achieve this by: (1) Providing real-time data for innovative solution providers to create workable solutions. This includes collection of real-world data, ETL processes, data modeling, predictive and descriptive analytics, use of AI algorithms. (2) Provision of access to laboratories and testing facilities, to enable applied research and experimentation. We also aim to offer access to software for virtual simulations, digital twins creation or access to equipment for physical demonstrations supporting experimental development, try-before-buy and test-before-invest initiatives. (3) Networking, training and consultancy: our team of experts, our large network of consultants, attracted investors and other European DIHs is there to offer valuable insights, mentorship, business planning, financial advise, transfer of know-how, best practice benchmarking, investments, compliance and legal consultancy, sustainability management and many other services a vendor or buyer may need. Trainings and workshops are provided by the UDIH Academy. UDIH was born as a cluster initiative in 2018 and became a well structured and operational Digital Innovation Hub by 2021. With over 20 cofounders and partners we represent the entire spectrum of stakeholders (startups, SMEs, authorities, utilities, investors, universties, research actors) across the digital innovations value chain (from feasibility studies through proof-of-concept research to actual investments and implementation) in the utilities industries (covering fields such as water distribution, electricity, gas, telecommunications, sewage, waste removal and recycling).
