UTMB Department of Population Health & Health Disparities

The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) School of Public and Population Health (SPPH) is the newest of five schools. SPPH began as The former Preventive Medicine and Population Health (PMPH) Department, established in 1912. As such, SPPH has a rich history of advancing preventive medicine and community health practice, education, and research for over 100 years! SPPH faculty are uniformly invested in leveraging research as a tool actualize our mission, which is to achieve ‘Health Equity for All’. Within the Department of Population Health and Health Disparities (PHHD), our mission is to be positioned as the premier academic program leading research, scholarship, and education in population health in Texas with a national reach. Our vision is to help each community member to achieve better health. We are inviting our next faculty member to join us in actualizing that mission and vision. Our faculty members are aligned through our unified focus on preserving the health of aging adults (18 years and older) and advancing health equity for marginalized and minoritized populations. Together, we leverage team science within a thriving and welcoming environment where faculty respect and appreciate the multiple contrasts in the way we conduct research and the multidisciplinary approach we use in pursuit of population health.
