UTS Dance Society

Inclusivity, creativity and challenging the boundaries. Dance Society UTS encourages students, staff and members of the public to express themselves through the artform of dance. Members will be encouraged to push themselves outside of their comfort zones and create a deeper understanding of how movement is used to form connections. Catering for beginner to advanced dancers, three streams exist within the Dance Society to ensure that its core values are achieved. Firstly, weekly open classes for all levels of ability will aim to introduce beginners to dance as well as challenge advanced students in a variety of styles including, jazz, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, tap, indigenous dance and many more! Additionally, advanced dancers will have the opportunity to represent UTS and compete in various eisteddfods and competitions through performing with our Contemporary, Jazz, and Hip Hop Groups. Advanced dancers are also encouraged to explore their creative passions through opportunities for choreographing and teaching. Lastly, all members will be provided the opportunity to perform at our end of year production to showcase what the society has achieved throughout the year. In 2021, we were able to put on and showcase our first production! This will be a great opportunity to perform with your friends even if you have never danced before! Our three streams aim to foster a safe creative environment, appreciation of the artform, fitness, creativity, skill growth, cultural diversity and positive social interaction.
