UTS Visualisation Institute

The core purpose of the Visualisation Institute is to initiate and accelerate research projects that use visualisation to critique, engage, and positively transform our industries and communities. We achieve this by assembling and supporting teams of UTS researchers with diverse expertise in visualisation practices and technologies, as well as by fostering collaborations and knowledge exchange with partners from industry, academia, and government. The Visualisation Institute has three key research focus areas: 1. Advancing Visualisation Practices and Technologies — Investigating how emerging creative technologies can enhance visualisation practices and be applied across diverse fields. Led by Prof Andrew Johnston. 2. Transforming Cultural Collections — Digitising, critiquing, and expanding cultural collections to include multiple and diverse perspectives. Led by A/Prof Zoë Sadokierski 3. Investigating Visualisation Systems — Exploring and critiquing systems that manage and collect data, impacting privacy and security. Led by A/Prof Linda Matthews
